Kangaroo Point
Kangaroo Point
A magnet for professionals without kids who love partying.

Kangaroo Point, Brisbane (0-5km)

If Kangaroo Point was a can of soft drink it would be a Solo. Here you will find more joggers per square kilometre than just about anywhere else in Australia. There's a fab rock climbing cliff, city views, an historic pub, a good boardwalk, steel sculptures, cafes and picnic spots. Kangaroo Point is a high rise apartment mecca, filled with professionals, the white-shoe-brigade-empty-nester types, and a sprinkling of families. Long gone are the days when only poor working class folk lived here. This is millionaires row now.(More info below and to your left <<<)

If this suburb were a shoe, it would be running shoes, Aquila, stilettos

Once upon a time, this area was packed with shipyards, but redevelopment of those yards has seen an explosion in apartments.

This suburb does tend to have a bit of a disjointed feel, not helped by the fact it is divided by a major road called Main Road.

Llewellyn St and Main St cafe sections are the more hip parts of Kangaroo Point. Ferry St is where retirees with cash to splash hang out aka Thirsten Howell III from Gilligan's Island.

The Story Bridge Hotel is a huge attraction for locals and visitors. It sits directly beneath the Story Bridge - the main bridge into Brisbane city centre from the southern suburbs. And the Boomerang Snack Bar (536 Main St) is an institution with truckies and taxi drivers. Open 24/7.

Transport by bus and ferry is very good. The Gabba (Brisbane Cricket Ground) is nearby.
