Fairfield
A dream suburb for families who don't need to live in trendy/cool areas.
Fairfield, Melbourne (north east)
Fairfield is like a classic meal, done well. It looks unassuming, but has an underlying charm that will clinch it for those who like a safe suburb, with nice architecture and a bit of spark, but nothing too out there or challenging. The Greek and Italian communities still live here, and parents in their 30s have moved in, gentrifying the place, but not overtly. (More information below and to your left <<<)

Fairfield is a self contained suburb. For decades it has been home to southern European communities, who brought up their kids here, and now those kids are bringing up their kids. On most days you can see groups of Italian or Greek men sitting on benches outside the library, having a catch up.
Fairfield has plenty of Victorian and Edwardian architecture, and the picturesque Yarra River is nearby. Because of its location and quiet position, it has been attracting professionals with a more down to earth approach to life. But this new influx has also seen a big rise in property prices.
The streets are charming, and the train station has a country feel to it.
It has a village vibe that often lacks in many Melbourne suburbs.
