Mount Helena
Mount Helena
A peaceful and picturesque rural suburb in Perth's hills district.

Mount Helena, Perth (hills, east)

Mt Helena is a quiet, conservative hills suburb about 35km east of Perth, well connected by major roads. It’s known for its serenity, fresh air, and clean environment. This rural suburb is primarily residential, with affordable housing and is popular with families. In the past decade, urban sprawl east out of Perth has made Mt Helena much more connected to Perth. It’s a forty-five-minute drive from the city centre and twenty-minutes from Midland - the major retail and transport hub in the east hills district. The village atmosphere of Mundaring is just a two-minute drive away, or a little longer if walking is your preference.

None of the major roads and highways that service Mt Helena (The Great Eastern, Great Eastern Bypass, Roe or Tonkin highways) ever suffer from chronic traffic congestion like their western counterparts such as the Mitchell or Graham Farmer Freeway.

Mt Helena has a small shopping area, but plenty of parks and open space for outdoor activities or family outings. There are many sport and recreation facilities here. Mt Helena has an active netball community. There is a public pool beside Mt Helena’s two schools, Mt Helena Primary School and Eastern Hills Senior High School (which are beside each other), and a Club Sierra fitness centre just down Great Eastern Highway.

Mt Helena is great for parents wanting to raise their children in a safe neighbourhood away from the bustling city, or anyone keen on living in a quiet area with plenty to keep them pleasantly occupied.
