Peppermint Grove
Peppermint Grove
This is the most expensive place to live in Perth but it does have stunning views

Peppermint Grove, Perth (west)

Welcome to one of Australia's most expensive suburbs! With only ten streets, Peppermint Grove is an exclusive club and home to much of Perth’s elite. In fact, you couldn’t get more exclusive in Perth than this place. The houses are massive, the gates are tall, the lawns are pristine, and there’s not a bogan (uncultured type) to be seen. Bravo darling!

Peppermint Grove is on the picturesque north bank of the Swan River in Freshwater Bay. It is Perth’s equivalent to Vaucluse in Sydney, and Toorak in Melbourne. The residents are older professional couples, and most have a long family association with the area, as well as a penchant for sailing and golf.

The early prosperity of this suburb is seen in older houses like “The Cliffe” on Bindaring Pde. Modern houses in Peppermint Grove carry on that tradition of building in a sympathetic if not at times flamboyant style. Houses here cost millions of dollars, but for that you get views, security and well connected politically conservative neighbours.

You will not find a café strip within The Grove, and that’s just how the residents like it. Luckily Cottesloe Central is just a 10-minute stroll away for any food or beverage fix.

Transport is also easy from The Grove with Cottesloe train station and the circle bus route stopping on the western edge of the suburb. Mind you, you’d be hard pressed to see anyone from Peppermint Grove on public transport. Please!
