Double Bay
Harbour views, beautiful streets, and no riff raff.
Double Bay, Sydney (east)
Darling. Sweetie. Names!!! Don’t venture down here on a bad hair day. And, if you’re tempted to visit in a track suit, make sure it’s LaCroix, sweetie. This place is all about money, image, designer labels, designer dogs, and big bank accounts. It also happens to be in a gorgeous location. For the record, Double Bay also goes by another name - Double Pay. Mwah mwah. Double Bay has beautiful tree-lined streets. But who would have guessed that in 1803 the area was a huge cattle and lettuce farm? Ya hah! Now, of course, it is shopping and cafe central. The architecture in Double Bay is very appealing. There are plenty of well kept period homes and apartment blocks. The shops generally cater for the middle aged crowd, with bling to spare. There is a tiny, tiny beach here with fab views across the harbour, and ferry service to the city. Double Bay is one of the most affluent and safest suburbs in Sydney, and a magnet for those with a conservative political bent, and high paying jobs.
