Erskineville
Erskineville
Small streets, Victorian cottages and terraces, and a pleasant community feel.

Erskineville, Sydney (inner west)

In the 1990’s, a great movie came out called the Erskineville Kings. It focused on the lives of two brothers who grew up in what has traditionally been a rough, working class suburb. Erskineville still has a working class population, but when property prices in Newtown began moving north, new, creative blood began moving into Erskineville. Now, of course, Erskineville too is an expensive suburb. It's also an alternative oasis in Australia's glitziest city.
Erskineville has plenty of small streets with Victorian era cottages, and an inviting, picturesque small village centre, with a small number of gourmet shops. It’s got a laid back feel, and a number of smaller parks. It attracts people who like being close to Newtown but can do without the noise and massive traffic congestion that come with Newtown.
