North Sydney
A business hub during the week, and very quiet on weekends.
North Sydney, Sydney (lower north shore)
North Sydney is the third largest business district in Australia. It's an IT and finance hub with excellent public transport and some of Sydney's best public and private schools. This is a very convenient suburb with some spectacular harbour views and plenty of young professionals. During the week this place sees a lot of activity with business types rushing around doing their thing and strutting around in suits having lunch. But come weekends North Sydney almost has a ghost town feel.
There are some good markets in North Sydney on the weekends. Saturdays and Sundays are days to go jogging in St Leonard's Park or to catch up with friends at a cafe in Miller St. For after hours entertainment, there's an Edwardian theatre.
The architecture here is a mixture of high rise apartments and some grand Victorian homes in tree lined streets. Some of the state's best schools are here in North Sydney.
Vibe: business lunch. Parking: get the coins out to feed the meter, if you can find a spot to park. Location: lower north shore. Would suit: professionals, executives, empty nesters. Shoe equivalent: Aquila (well paid types). Postcode: 2060. Distance from city centre: 5.5km. Direction: north. (More information below and to your left <<<)
