It's popular with the over 50s crowd, and has its fair share of matronly style women with big blonde hair, bling and 4WDs (SUVs). (More info below... )

Brighton is a beautiful, safe, suburb with wide leafy streets, big well-kept homes, private schools, good public transport via the train line, and a couple of good bay beaches. Cricketer Shane Warne and some other famous sporty types live here.
One of the best things about Brighton is the beach bathing boxes which draw in the tourists and locals and make for great, super colourful photos. Given the beaches are on the bay, there's no surf here. But it can get windy so if you like a work out, a challenge and the water, then join the dozens of others who like to parasurf? here.
Politically? It's conservative.
Parking is usually good but can be hard around the main shopping streets on weekends. Vibe: black, shiny 4WDs on parade. Shoe equivalent: loafer, Salvatore Ferragamo. Location: bay, beach. Distance from city centre: 12km Direction: South East.
