Wahroonga
A well to do garden suburb with big homes and plenty of private schools.
Wahroonga, Sydney (north shore)
Wahroonga is one of the safest suburbs in Sydney, and the sort of place you could imagine people who like having a butler living in. It has impressive tree-lined streets, large houses on large blocks. The gardens are immaculate, the kids go to private schools, the shopping village is small but self contained and very well kept. If you are an executive with a family and a fab pay packet, this is your kinda place. (More information below and to your left <<<)

Wahroonga was settled by a convict who later became a wealthy businessman. Since the late 1890's, it's been a favourite destination for wealthier people, and has since become known as a garden suburb. In 1948, famous Australian architect Harry Seidler built a minimalist style modern house in Wahroonga, naming it after his mum, Rose. The Rose Seidler House at 71 Clissold Rd, caused a bit of a stir when it was built. It is now a part of the Historic Houses Trust. Ph: 9989 8020.
Wahroonga has a good mix of Federation, Georgian, Edwardian and California Bungalow style homes. It also has a decent number of good schools, and child care centres. And it's the sort of place where kids grow up calling their mum "mother". You know, a bit formal. Raa raa, pip pip and all that!
